Harlem Meer Performance Festival - Harlem Blues & Jazz Band
Charles A. Dana Discovery Center (inside the Park at 110th Street between Fifth and Lenox Avenues)

The Harlem Blues and Jazz Band is the world's most authentic swing band, starring 7 veteran jazz and blues musicians and one vocalist.

Come on out for a swinging good time with these foundres of swing dance! With their roots in the 20s and 30s swing music, the band has a combined 500 years of experience in performing, and getting people out of their seats and on the dance floor. Together since 1973, these "originals" actually "jumped" at the Woodside and "stomped" at the Savoy with Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Count Basie, Lionel Hampton, "Fats" Waller, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday and other jazz greats. These are the artists who created a new genre of music for America.

The band is based in NYC's very own Harlem, the symbolic home of swing. On tour since 1976, the group has been called "a national treasure" as they continue to be enthusiastically embraced by audiences around the world and the Central Park Conservancy is thrilled to invite them to our Harlem Meer Performance Festival stage.
